Ayrshire Greens Showing of "A Dangerous Game" by Anthony Baxter

Ayrshire Greens are showing "A Dangerous Game" by Anthony Baxter at 7pm, 24th March at Ayr Town Hall. All welcome.

From the official description:
"A Dangerous Game" is the jaw-dropping sequel to "You've Been Trumped" (winner of a dozen major awards). At stake is our ability to protect what's left of our vanishing and fragile natural world. Struck by the chord his first film made, director Anthony Baxter takes us on a journey to other global hot spots where rapacious developers – often in cahoots with local officials – are using golf as a smokescreen to build massive luxury resorts that end up costing the earth.

Entry is free but any donations would be gratefully received.

Reservations available at: http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/scottish-greens-ayrshire-branch-7982893814?s=34285476

Scottish Greens were the only political party to raise their voice against Trump's development in Menie, Aberdeenshire and the extent of that was documented in Antony Baxter's award winning film You've been Trumped.

With Mr Trump's much heralded arrival in Ayrshire we must be ready for similar bullying to be employed in the name of progress.

A Dangerous Game sets out the wider impacts of golf tourism on environments and economies across the world.

Debra Storr, who was one of the Councillors opposing Trump said today:

'Trump and his like believe that golf should be an activity only accessible to the wealthiest.  They have a total disregard for the local environment and do little for the local economy.  The concept of the golf resort is to capture as much spend as possible for the developer: hence the recent application for a helipad at Menie to ferry golfers from one resort to another without risk of so much as a cup of tea en route.  It will be a tragedy if he turns historic Turnberry into a clone of his other golf resorts.'

The Ayr Advertiser is carrying this story today. Trump's lighthouse plans revealed
"George Sorial, Executive Vice President at the Trump Organisation and Counsel to the billionaire, said: "We decided that we would really restore it to it's full grandeur, it will be converted into a half way house unlike any other in Europe or anywhere in the world.
It is going to be a combination of a half way house and two luxury suites, it will be an unrivalled luxury facility."
